Remember record labels?
Working for a brand with deep connections to underground music (and its attendant subculture) can have its advantages. Case in point: the Featured Label series, cooked up in conjunction with a few fellow record nerds on our Music and Editorial teams. The goal, quite simply, was to highlight some of our favorite labels, and to provide a bit of indie music history and context ahead of the paradigm shift toward an infinite stream. Each iteration included a (relatively) long interview and curated playlist, and across its several-month-long run I had the opportunity to chat with some of the people responsible for shaping my taste in music.
