Woodberry Forest School
Woodberry Forest School is an all boys, all boarding prep school located in Madison County, Virginia. It’s… traditional. Like, very traditional. And it’s a very good school, with a very nice campus—they have a golf course, even—but it’s the kind of place that’s always been more appealing to parents than to prospective students. We set out to change that, crafting a custom brand platform that shifts the focus toward adventure, discovery and teamwork. Our work made its debut in their 2019 view book, a three-volume publication that went on to win a CASE Circle of Excellence Gold Award for Student Recruitment Publications.

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise
Located in the heart of Appalachia, the College at Wise is a unique—almost unlikely—piece of the larger University of Virginia ecosystem. It’s a small school in a remote location, serving a region struggling through an economic downturn. It’s also been a place without a strong identity, and without a clearly defined role in its community. We tackled these problems as part of a full brand concept project, developing a new look, feel and voice for the school that blends the aspirational tone of the UVA Charlottesville brand with the pride and pragmatism that defines the Appalachian spirit. Below is a sampling of our concept work, along with the first of many real pieces to roll out—a printed search mailer delivered for Fall 2019.

The University of Virginia’s “Honor the Future” Campaign
Launching this year, the University of Virginia’s largest, most ambitious capital campaign is rooted in this simple command: honor the future. To unpack the meaning of this powerful phrase, we developed a multipart video package featuring a campaign anthem clip voiced by UVA President Jim Ryan, and a series of authentic interviews with notable figures from the UVA community. Rolling out over the course of months, these short videos will work in combination to generate excitement while humanizing the University’s fundraising push. Along with our video series, we developed concept work for announcing campaign milestones, which will be produced and delivered as important fundraising goals are met.
